Blast Design is a pioneering explosives engineering business based in Scotland. Our founder and director John Kettles is a member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers (MIExpE). We are fully insured. Our business covers all aspects of explosives engineering, both onshore and offshore.

Blast Design's services include:

• Onshore rock blasting, deepening of rivers and waterways and demolition, ranging from chimneys and towers to bridges, viaducts and buildings.

• Offshore explosives engineering services such as wellhead abandonment and underwater cutting using shaped charges.

• Consultancy and project management on all aspects of onshore and offshore explosives work.

• Explosives storage and transport are our specialities; we have explosive storage facilities catering for weights from a few kilograms to hundreds of tonnes. We also specialise in the transport of explosives all over the world by air, sea, road and rail. We deal closely with the Health and Safety Executive on all matters of transport and storage. • Training in all aspects of explosives use, transport and storage, including the use of live explosives.

• DBERR-approved aviation security training courses for both aircrews and security staff which includes Improvised Explosive device (IED) detection and recognition.

• An explosives trial site where Blast Design undertake explosives-related trials. We have previously used the site to conduct anti-terrorism trials for the MOD and trials for the oil industry.

• Professionally-fired fireworks displays for any occasion to meet most budgets, for any event. • Explosives and fireworks disposal. No quantity is too great. Previous disposals have been undertaken on behalf of Biffa Waste, UPS and various companies in the oil and gas industry.

• A 24-hour emergency response service throughout mainland UK and the North Sea, which includes the use of specialist cutting charges.

• Special effects (sfx) for film and television: our previous work has included 'Fooling Hitler', a production by Tiger Aspect Productions for ITV, and 'What A Blast' and 'The Big Experiment' for the Discovery Channel. Blast Design can also provide structures such as bridges or viaducts for use in films.

• BlastArt sculptures, whereby sculptures are produced as by-products of explosions. We are pleased to offer various styles and sizes of BlastArt sculpture for sale. Visits can also be arranged to create your own sculpture.
